Sales recruitment: The three options

October 27, 2009

Employers looking to hire people in retail sales jobs have been told they have three main options when head hunting potential workers.

According to Marketing Minefield, an industry advice website, companies can either turn their efforts to recruitment agencies, advertising or networking.

"First, think of what experience the sales staff need, their level of education, whether you require them on a long-term or short-term basis and what salary terms and commissions you can offer," the website explained.

"These requirements will affect the choice of recruitment method. Once you've decided on the criteria that the successful candidate must have, you can look into how you find a suitable candidate."

Employers seeking workers to fill short-term positions were advised to use a recruitment agency.

The website suggested that firms looking for a low cost way of reaching job seekers should consider advertising.

Emphasis was placed on internet advertising and the website Gumtree was recommended as an effective platform on which to market a job.

Finally, Marketing Minefield put forward the idea of networking when recruiting, but warned that this method was unlikely to provide much choice of candidate.ADNFCR-2182-ID-19429751-ADNFCR
