'People need training' in medical sales jobs

October 22, 2009

Retail sales managers have been called on to ensure they efficiently train their workforce if they want to close more deals.

Leading sales coach Sur Barrett has suggested that people working in positions such as medical sales jobs need to be taught how to make effective phone sales.

In her blog on smartcompany.com, MS Barrett explained that there was no secret to successful sales apart from well planned training sessions.

She said: "A half day session in the 'how to' will get you started, followed by some pithy little sessions with your team on a regular basis to share what's working well.

"I know I sound like June Dally-Watkins but as the saying goes: 'You never get a second chance to make a good first impression'. Good manners, grace and courtesy go a long way.

Ms Barrett also commented that efficient training sessions also give salespeople the ability to approach their job with more confidence.

She added: "Training your people does work."ADNFCR-2182-ID-19421704-ADNFCR
