Customers 'are never wrong'

October 23, 2009

Salespeople have been told that although the customer may not always be right, they can never be wrong.

According to sales coach Trent Leyshan, when a customer is proved wrong, everyone loses.

In his blog on smartcompany.com, he warned that customers will most certainly take their business elsewhere in the pursuit of being right.

Mr Leyshan explained that clients want to always be right - and "rightly so" because they are the one paying you for your service or product.

He said: "If I had to choose between being right and losing a valued customer and being wrong and helping my customer see the situation as their opportunity - I would be wrong every time."

"Some may respond, 'Well I didn't like or want that customer anyway' and that's OK, but be wary of the wounded customer - they talk, text, chatter and tweet, and before you know it, you have lost not just one customer but countless others."

Mr Leyshan concluded by advising readers to ensure they understand the power of being wrong and how to use it to their advantage.ADNFCR-2182-ID-19423843-ADNFCR
