Sales Manager - Conference and Banqueting

Our client is a charity devoted to the worldwide conservation of animals and their habitats. The organisation is 180 years old and is growing with ever increasing vigour. This has been an exhilarating year with significant achievements to report across the whole organisation.

Due to continued expansion, they have an exciting opportunity for a Sales Manager to join them and to over-see the sales team and offer sales and marketing support. Main responsibilities will be to lead, motivate and train the sales team to ensure that all revenue opportunities are maximised through up-selling and yield management. As Sales Manager, you will also be responsible for forecasting sales and writing sales reports.

It will be your responsibility to draw up a marketing plan for both sites and execute this in order to achieve budgeted sales. This will involve conducting regular competitor, SWOT and PEST analysis and monitoring business trends. Organising client entertainment events, trade shows, exhibitions and networking events, you will strive to encourage repeat business at every opportunity. You will also be responsible for the catering contractors and the use of all conference and banqueting rooms and facilities. This role will involve travel to Whipsnade at least twice a month in addition to occasional on and off site visits with clients. A driving licence would be preferable.

Our clients are looking for a target driven manager with a passion for sales and the determination to make this challenging role a success. With a hospitality or associated relevant qualification, you will also have a basic food hygiene certificate. Experience in a sales and events role within a conference / banqueting environment is required. Sales negotiation skills would be advantageous. An excellent communicator, you will be confident when liasing with fellow colleagues, caterers and clients at all levels.
