Our client is a highly regarded multi-skilled, market leading engineering business. Specialising in forgings, sheet metal fabrications and electrical projects, they deal with a range of reputable companies in the railway and highway industries. An opportunity has now arisen for a Sales Engineer to join their team in Darlington.
In this field/office based role you'll get the opportunity to develop your sales skills working with an exciting range of clients. Our client is looking to recruit a self motivated and ambitious individual who is full of energy and driven by reward.
As a Sales Engineer you will be responsible for regularly visiting potential and existing clients around the UK to develop and maintain Company growth, by selling our client's products (signalling, general forgings, fabrications, electrical and mimic panels) to businesses within the railway, highway and public sectors.
Your role will involve dealing with specialist clients where you will advise on our client's products and applications, therefore you'll need to be an exceptional communicator with the ability to talk to a range of people. This position initially will be split between the field and office, though after your training it is envisaged that you will be in the field for around 50% of your time with the rest in the office.
To succeed in the role of Sales Engineer, you must have proven sales experience, preferably in field sales. You will also need a technical background, excellent customer service skills, and a full UK driving licence.
Additionally, you will need to be technically astute, and possess exceptional new business, account management and closing skills, along with a strong consultative approach, and the ability to build relationships and hunt for new business.
Any engineering knowledge would be a distinct advantage to your application, as would knowledge of steel enclosures, cabinets and racks – though this isn't essential as full training will be provided.
