Our client has always been a specialist adhesive tape manufacturer. Today, they continue to manufacture cloth, PVC, foil, double-sided and polyethylene tapes in the UK at two sites in Leicester.

 

They currently have an exciting opportunity for a Group External Sales Manager to lead their European sales team. Our client specifically target professional end users of tape and the main route to market is through distribution. The key purpose of this role is to lead a group of ten Key Account Managers, giving them guidance and motivation in order to achieve the sales growth objectives.

 

Based in Leicester and reporting to the Group Sales Manager you will identify key opportunities within the market and develop and implement strategies to increase sales and profitability. You will have full responsibility for the operational sales function and will be expected to respond to all incoming enquiries in a timely manner ensuring a high level of customer service is provided.

 

You will be required to prepare regular and detailed sales performance reports and ensure all sales staff are well prepared to negotiate price increases, you will do this through regular sales meetings which will also be a good opportunity to motivate and encourage your team. You will divide your time between the different sales divisions ensuring you have regular contact with them all, so regular travel within Europe will be essential.

 

The successful candidate will be educated to a minimum of A Level standard, however a Degree in Business Studies would be desirable.  You must be fluent in both English and French and have a basic understanding of German. It is essential that you have previous field sales management experience including managing overseas staff along with an understanding of holding appraisals, training and development and recruiting staff. You must also have experience of selling through distributors and managing all issues associated with this route to market. An excellent communicator at all levels you will be well organised, confident and enthusiastic. You must have good IT skills along with good analysis, literacy, reporting and negotiating skills.
